(Yicai) Nov. 24 -- Chinese printed circuit board maker Shennan Circuits plans to invest CNY1.3 billion (USD183.2 million) to build a plant in Thailand to better serve international customers.
Shennan Circuits will set up a local project company through two wholly-owned units, which will be responsible for the investment, construction, and operation of the new PCB plant in the Rojana Industrial Park in Thailand, the Shenzhen-based firm announced yesterday, without revealing any further detail. Shennan Circuits is the world’s leading supplier of radio frequency amplifier PCBs for wireless base stations. Its revenue from the PCB business totaled CNY8.8 billion last year, accounting for nearly 63 percent of the total, according to the company’s latest annual report. About 40 percent of the PCB business revenue came from overseas sales.
Building the new plant in Thailand will help Shennan Circuits better meet the needs of international customers and improve its supply capacity in the global market, the firm noted.
Shares of Shennan Circuits [SHE: 002916] were trading down 1.6 percent at CNY72.90 (USD10.27) as of 11 a.m. in Shenzhen today.
Smt Assembler Shennan Circuit is not the only Chinese listed PCB maker planning to build production facilities in Thailand to encounter the changing geopolitical and trade landscape, as the global supply chain adjustment underway. Some of its peers already announced their respective investment plans early this year, with the investment amount between CNY550 million and CNY700 million (USD77.5 million and USD98.7 million).
